+++ Delta doesn't deserve the stick +++
When Brian McFadden left his wife, Kerry Katona, and found love with singer Delta Goodrem, Delta got a rough ride from Kerry’s fans.
But now the Aussie beauty has been given the seal of approval by the women who count – the wives and girlfriends of Brian’s old Westlife band mates, who have accepted Delta as one of their own.
Actress Jodi Albert, 23, girlfriend of Kian Egan, 26, reveals: “Brian’s very happy. We saw him recently as he was back in Ireland with Delta. She’s such a lovely girl. We got on really well and were chatting for ages.
“We have a lot in common – neither of us drink, but we like to boogie. I think she enjoyed hanging out with us girls.
“It’s such a shame she got so much stick because she doesn’t deserve it. She’s such a nice person and has been through so much.
“I didn’t really know Kerry, but I’m sure she misses the whole group thing. She seems happy though and has her kids.”
Jodi says that Delta is more than welcome as a Westlife Wag, or Wagabees as they call themselves. The girls first coined the name during the World Cup.
She says: “We were joking about how we can’t call ourselves Wags because there’s a boyfriend now – Mark’s man, Kevin. So we’re the Westlife Wagabees – the wives, girlfriends and boyfriends.
“We never drink as much as the Wags though – they know how to party!”
Now there’s a Westlife baby – Shane and Gillian’s daughter Nicole, one – things have become a lot more sedate. And the group are now even closer.
“We’re tighter as a unit because there’s a baby around,” says Jodi. “You have to be more responsible. Kian and I have babysat, but our puppy is enough responsibility for us right now.”
Jodi says she wants to settle down with Kian, but not just yet.
“We’re not engaged, but we talk about it all the time,” she says. “I’m only 23. I don’t want to be married until I’m 26 or 27.”
In the meantime, Jodi’s concentrating on her sexy role in new Five show Respectable. The ex-Hollyoaker plays a prostitute in the brothel-based comedy.
“I have to wear bras, suspenders, French knickers and basques,” she says. “They’re racy but quite classy.”
“The only trouble was, I spent so long in them at work – even eating my lunch in them – that I didn’t find them sexy any more!”
