Ex-Hollyoaks star Jodi Albert has defended her new comedy Respectable, in which she plays a prostitute. She says: "It was good fun to film and it isn't seedy or dirty. The sauciest things in it are the outfits and there is some innuendo.
"It's very light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek. My character Hayley is quite a sweet person who lives in her own world. She is naïve but she is also adorable." Jodi Albert's comedy Respectable was the final TV project of the late Harry Thompson, the brains behind Have I Got News For You. Thompson, original producer of the comic news quiz, who died aged 45 last year, was co-writer with Shaun Pye.
The show is set in the Debonnaire brother and also stars Cordelia Bugeja as student Kate and Justin Edwards as married man Michael who becomes smitten with Jodi's character Hayley. While she hopes for a second series of Respectable, Jodi Albert is making a brief return to Hollyoaks this autumn. Jodi, who played singer Debbie Dean before she quit the soap in 2004, says:
"I'm filming two episodes in September – Debbie is a cruise singer and has become quite famous. But her return causes a stir as her sister Steph become insanely jealous. I'm looking forward to going back as I've goy a lot of pals there." Respectable star Jodi Albert has snubbed the new run of I'™m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! as she's scared of jungle creepy-crawlies. She says: "I was approached to be in the next series but I don't spiders, so how would I cope?
I love the show and I liked Love Island but I don't think I'd ever appear on them." As for the future, Jodi will also be seen in new Britflick Popcorn with Eastender Jack Ryder. She's been dating Westlife's Kian Egan for more than three years, but wedding bells aren't in the air for Jodi Albert. Jodi says: It's in the future but we aren't going to rush into anything just yet.
We've been friends for eight years and we live together a lot of the time in London. We're having a great time and I go on tour with Kian quite a lot but I also want to pursue my acting career.
