WESTLIFE star Kian Egan has ruled out starting a family with wife Jodi Albert until her girlband scores a hit.
The singer, who co-manages Jodi and her pop group with music mogul Louis Walsh, married the London babe last May in the Bahamas.
But pop heartthrob Kian confessed he has no interest in following in the footsteps of Westlife dad-ofthree Shane Filan, 30, or Nicky Byrne, 31, who has twins with wife Georgina Ahern.
Parents Instead, he insists the couple are more focused on being pop stars than being parents.
Kian, 29, from Sligo, said: “We’ve got careers to fulfill first.
“Jodi’s only 26 and I’m only 29, so we’ve still got plenty of time.
“She’s so engrossed in the band, her mind isn’t on kids.
“The band is her baby, and the focus will stay on our careers for the next few years, that’s for sure.
“There’s an awful lot left for Westlife and for me as an individual. “Fatherhood is a whole different chapter.”
Jodi and bandmates Leigh Learmont, 19, Sharon Condon, 24, Kasey Smith, 20, and Corrina Durran, 23, sang a track called When The Stars Go Blue on the Late Late Show in December 2008.
But, the five-piece, who are signed to Mercury records, have yet to pick a name or release the song.
Despite the lull, Kian is confident the girls will be a success.
He said: “They’re in the studio making an album.
“It’s about getting it right so that they last a very long time.”
And Kian added that kids aren’t completely out of the picture.
He said: “When Jodi and I feel like we’ve done enough, we’ll chill out and start having babies.”

WESTLIFE’s Kian Egan vows to be a no-nonsense manager with his new girl band – thanks to Louis Walsh.
The Sligo singer is set to launch the group in the summer and will co-manage them alongside the X Factor star judge.
He’s vowing to give the girls – including his TV star wife Jodi Albert – tough love as they bid to hit the big time.
However, Kian, 29, revealed how, at the height of Westlife’s stardom, Louis dumped them and walked out.
He told the Irish Daily Mirror: “It was one of the worst moments of our lives. Louis completely went mad at us – looking back at it he was right.
“We had been behaving really noisily on a flight to Sweden to record our new album. The next morning we turned up 20 minutes late to go into the studio.
“Louis came storming down the stairs in the hotel and let loose on us. He was shouting that we were all idiots and we weren’t the people that he thought we were.
“He said he didn’t want anything to do with us any more. He told us he was quitting. We were there in shock.
“We were left to stew – it was a complete nightmare. We thought we had just blown the biggest chance of our lives.
“Thankfully Louis had a change of heart and we got him back on our side. But I’ll never forget the lesson that taught me.”
Kian is now preparing his girls – Kasey Smith, 20, Corinna Dunne, 23, Sharon Condon, 24, Leigh Learmont, 19, and 26-year-old Jodi – for the big launch with their debut single and video. And he has already told them he won’t accept any diva behaviour.
He explained: “They know where they stand with me. I don’t take any nonsense. Louis was tough but but I’ll actually be even tougher – it’s for their own good.
“There’s no room for big egos or bitchy behaviour or complaining.
“The girls know what I expect. Thankfully they are totally committed and are working their backsides off to make it work.”
The girls have already landed a EUR1million record deal.

Westlife’s Kian Egan has revealed his relief that his mother-in-law looks to be winning her battle with cancer.
Kian, who married former Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert at a star-studded wedding on the Caribbean island of Barbados last May, said his wife’s mother Eileen is now almost in remission.
Speaking exclusively to the Diary, Kian explained how the couple are finally getting to enjoy married life after what has been a year of highs and lows.
“Eileen’s doing really well, yeah, she’s doing great,” he said. “It looks like she’s coming out the other side and could soon be in remission.
Treatments
“She’s still got a couple of treatments left to go so until that happens we won’t know anything for definite but we were told after Christmas that it’s looking hopeful.
“All we can do now is wait, but 2010 is already looking a bit more positive,” he added.
The Flying Without Wings singer (29) was left devastated when he lost his own father, Kevin, to cancer last July, just two months after the couple tied the knot.
However, Kian said that following this latest boost, he and Jodi are finally getting back on track and throwing themselves into their work.
He said: “Jodi’s in London with the girl band at the minute recording the first album so it’s all very exciting for us.
“You’ll be hearing loads about that coming up in the summer.”
The group, which is to be co-managed by Louis Walsh, has yet to be given a name — there was even talk of making a reality show to find a name.
“There’s talk about doing loads of different things to try and pick an actual name,” Kian said. “But to be honest, I think we’ll actually just try and come up with a good name.
“If someone else comes up with it, great. If not, then we’ll have to think of one. We’re not in any great rush with it really,” he added.
Kian was delighted last Friday night when Jodi jetted into town at the last minute to surprise him after he and his bandmates were voted Best Irish Pop Act for the 10th year in a row at the annual Irish Meteor Music Awards.
Partied
The smitten couple partied into the early hours with Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and their respective partners in the exclusive Wright Venue’s VIP Scarface Suite, before returning to Britain the following day.
Also spotted in the club at the time was fellow singer, Michele McGrath, who narrowly missed out on a spot in the yet-to-be-named girl band. Since then the Assets beauty has been striving ahead with her own music career.
Next weekend will see Michele and her band Industry support JLS at Dublin’s O2 and the Odyssey arena in Belfast.
TOP music acts from at home and abroad rounded off an evening of celebrations at the exclusive Wright Venue in Swords last night — where the official Irish Meteor Award’s after-party took place.
Celebs including Westlife, Louis Walsh and Claudine Keane took over the Northside spot’s elite VIP area for an invite-only bash, enjoying free-flowing champagne into the early hours.
Marking their 10th year in a row as the recipients of the Best Irish Pop Act, Westlife stars Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily were all joined by their other halves for the celebration in the club’s Scarface Suite.
Kian explained how his new bride Jodi Albert had made a special effort to jet in from London for the post-awards show bash, given that she is currently busy rehearsing for the launch of her new girlband, which is to be managed by her hubby and Louis Walsh.
Shane, meanwhile, was enjoying a rare night out with his wife Gillian after the couple welcomed their third child, Shane Peter Filan, into the world less than a month ago.
“It’s all going great,” Shane told the Herald. “I think that’s it babywise for a while, maybe that’s it for ever,” he added.
Mark, meanwhile, was busy celebrating his engagement to longtime partner Kevin McDaid, but refused to reveal details of the big proposal, explaining that even his bandmates weren’t privy to that information.
GLAMOROUS
Glamorous Malahide beauty Claudine, who had attended the Awards show with her mother Joan earlier, was flying solo later in the evening when she joined a group of pals at the Wright Venue.
The yummy mummy explained how her footballer husband, Robbie Keane could not make it as he was committed to playing a match but said she was looking forward to spending time with him upon her return to Glasgow tomorrow evening.
The Script meanwhile, who took the award for Best Live Performance at the ceremony in the RDS earlier that night splashed the cash on drinks for friends and family at the Four Season’s Ice Bar following the show.
“We watch the award shows all the time and we were messing around earlier in the day wondering should we write a speech but we decided not to even bother since we were up against the likes of U2,” Glen Power told the Herald. “We’re absolutely delighted and needless to say stunned.”
He went on to explain how he had taken the opportunity to visit his old school while he was back in Dublin this week to leave a letter for his old guidance councillor, who had warned him that pursuing a music career was a waste of time. According to the music star: “It (the letter) said: ‘Thanks so much for the advice you gave me all those years ago, I’m glad I didn’t take it. Glen.’”
He added that The Script have no plans to play a concert at the O2 until they have released a second album.
UK singer Pixie Lott, who was also spotted hanging out at the hotel, performed at the event, alongside Paulo Nutini, Florence and the Machine, Bell X1, The Coronas and Weslife.
U2’s Adam Clayton was on hand to present the Industry Award to Henry Mount Charles, who admitted he was in awe after the rockstar’s moving speech, and confirmed that this year’s Slane concert will take place on August 28, but would not give any clues as to who will be taking to the stage.
Actress Leigh Arnold and former Podge and Rodge star Virginia Macari set pulses racing when they joked that they might do “a Britney and Madonna and share a kiss” while presenting the award for Best Irish Male.
RTE’S Gerry Ryan was joined by his two daughters, Lottie and Bonnie, explaining that his partner, Melanie Verwoerd was saving herself for tonight’s IFTAs ceremony at the Burlington, to which she will accompany him.
Other guests included Grainne Seoige, Kathryn Thomas, Lorraine Keane, Lisa Cannon, Karen Koster, Anna Daly, Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh, Sinitta and, of course, host of the evening, Amanda Byram, who made a total of four costume changes on the night.
